Beanre

House Beanre is the oldest house of Menzoberranzan. For as long as any still alive can remember, Yvonnel Beanre was the undying matron from generation to generation. Matron Beanre was the closest thing to a ruler Menzoberranzan ever had and the name inspired such fear that even more than 70 years after her death in the caverns of Mithril Hall at the hands of a crazed dwarf her name is still remembered - a well deserved compliment.

That was Beanre in the glory days when the house had the whole of Menzoberranzan rallied behind it to the point when the Matron could contemplate large scale invasions of powerful dwarven strongholds. Since Matron Beanre's death the house has lost much of its power and made a few overt enemies. No longer is it suicide to speak against Beanre in public or to take something which belongs to Beanre. Nevertheless this is still the largest and strongest house in Menzoberranzan. No two houses combined could match the strength or the resourcefulness of Beanre.

The house has a fair share of enigmas. One of them is that after Yvonnel Beanre's death everyone expected her daughters to split up and make their own houses, but for 70 years now the house has been seemingly content under the leadership of Triel. To understand the peculiarity of this move one must consider that the children of all of the Beanre sisters except Triel's will never be nobles unless they make their own houses.
