The Tomb of Darker Fate                                                                        October 21, 2006

The last two tendays were very eventfull for house Neiren. Ironen, Rizzen, Avalos, Beornon and Ammariss went on a supposed surface raid led by Drisinil Armgo. The goal of the raid was to use underdark tunnels to come close to the surface city of Waterdeep, and then, guided by a traitorous surfacer sneak into the stronghold of the Order of the Radiant Heart of Waterdeep and slay the headmaster. Many drow of select houses went along on this raid, but they were deceaved. Drisinil Armgo never intended to go to the surface, as the players soon found out. She was leading them deeper into the underdark, to a location she would not disclose.

Jazzt Dyrr first quarreled with Drisinil and soon decided to abandon the group to save his skin. Next Morgan, a priestess of house Xorlarrin tried to organise a rebellion among the raiding party that would dispose of Drisinil and continue on the Lolth appointed mission to the surface. Drisinil's clever web of promises and deciet ruined Morgan's plans, bringing about her untimely end.

When the passages finally started to slope upward, the real destination of the 'raid' became clear. The party came to an old Drow burrial site inhabited by driders and a large party of surfacers called 'the Holy'. The drow easily destroyed the surfacers with the loss of only one worthless Kinafin male. It was here that the players found Drisinil's reasons for diverting from the surface raid plan. On the body of the cleric of Tymora was a scroll with the following poem:

You seek it and it wants to be found.
It lies in a tomb deep underground.
Ignorant guards of legs eight
Shield the world from darker fate.

An identical poem was found, written in undercommon, in the scroll-case of the dead Duskryn wizard, Sabath.

Drisinil now split the party into pairs and ordered them to search the tombs in the area and to bring her a black rod with intricate spider web design and a black widow perched on top. The party searched, battling driders and traps, finally coming upon a tomb for two people in the most ornate room of the burial site. The coffin containing the female, however, was already looted through a hand sized hole cut above her head in the side of the stone sarcophagus. The PC's decided that someone had already taken the rod and returned to Menzoberranzan to the warm welcome of Matron Neiren.

Surprisingly, only members of house Neiren returned to Menzoberranzan, everyone else that went with them found their end on the way to, or in the tomb of Darkest Fate.

I forgot to award campaign experience for this part of the adventure. As a bonus for being thorough and visiting my site add 2,000 exp to your character, then send me an email to dmitriyscherbak@msn.com saying "hi." But mum's the word - remember - it's every drow for her/himself.
